Celiac Canada / Coeliaque Canada (CCA) has been helping people with celiac disease since 1972. It was founded because the needs of people suffering from celiac disease were not being recognised sufficiently.

Today the association serves people with celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity and dermatitis herpetiformis through affiliated chapters across Canada. CCA helps individuals regain power over every aspect of their lives.

With increased research incentives powered by donors, community networking, and mutual support, CCA helps individuals regain power over every aspect of their lives. CCA provides a singular, reliable resource of information not only for Canadians living gluten free, but for their families and health care providers.

CCA’s mission is for every Canadian to be diagnosed and empowered. One way in which they do this is through the use of the CCA trademark in the Canadian market. This is the gluten-free trademark of choice in this region which allows consumers to easily identify gluten-free products in the marketplace. Underpinned by BRCGS certification, it provides consumers with protection, assurance and safety when it comes to gluten-free products.

Speaking of the launch of the BRCGS Gluten-Free Global Standard Issue 4, Melissa Secord, National Executive Director of Celiac Canada, said: “CCA is thrilled our long-lasting relationship with BRCGS is helping people with celiac disease and gluten-sensitivity around the world to find safe food that helps them belong and take part in a community that the rest of us take for granted”. Melissa continues, “Issue 4 is a welcome improvement, and it is testament to a leadership organization that constantly improves and doesn’t rest on its laurels”.

“CCA was there when this certification programme started over 15 years ago, with the Allergen Control Group at the time”, explains Secord. “We invested to develop the standard and identify 20 ppm as the safe threshold. It’s great to see this become a world class standard”.

CCA is Canada’s only national charity championing how to find, treat and cure celiac disease so people who have it can safely manage their lifelong gluten-free journey. A hub for the best medical, lifestyle and policy solutions that improve access to safe gluten-free food, standards of care & world-class education/research. CCA changes minds, hearts, laws and lives.
