¿Por qué te uniste al programa BRC Global Standards Professional?
Voy a cumplir 5 años en el rubro del Packaging, he asistido a varias capacitaciones junto a mi equipo en BRC y HACCP dictados por empresas dedicadas a certificar, sin embargo, estas han sido muy teóricos y no enfocadas a nuestra necesidad practica del Packaging, por lo que comencé a buscar nuevas opciones de capacitación enfocadas al Packaging y en esta búsqueda tomé contacto con ATP Federico Sánchez quien me ofreció la opción de unir a este programa de BRC Global Standards Professional a mí y el equipo que lidero garantizando la orientación al Packaging.
¿Qué valor siente personalmente que le brinda la certificación BRC Global Standards Professional?
Fidelización y embajador en América Latina por ser el primer BRC Professional, ratificar lo que llevo haciendo estos 5 años en la industria del Packaging, consagra mi admiración a lo que significa BRC y el valor de seguridad (inocuidad) que entrega a la industria, sumado a las herramientas de dicho programa me convierte en un profesional de excelencia con una mirada y análisis de riesgos muy integro logrando proteger nuestra marca Wenco y la de sus Filiales.
¿Cómo afectó / impactará el programa de reconocimiento su trabajo?
Me entrega la idoneidad requerida para impulsar con más fuerza el objetivo de Wenco y el área que lidero respecto a generar una cultura distinta y que nuestro “ADN” sea BRC, junto con esto cimentar respectivos procesos de Auditorías Internas como Pre Auditoria de diagnósticos en los distintos sitios de Wenco y sus Filiales.
¿Habrías completado los cursos de componentes de todos modos?
Si, sin embargo, es importante tomar en un corto tiempo todos, esto te genera una mejor comprensión ya que este programa se encuentra perfectamente unido entre los cursos entregados.
¿Cómo llegaste a tu rol actual?
Inicié Profesionalmente en Coca Cola, departamento Ingeniería Calidad donde conocí varias normas que eran parte del sistema integrado de gestión, estuve 5 años. Luego seguí en Viña Concha y Toro como líder equipo Calidad donde conocí BRC Food, aquí me capacité y fui participe del equipo de implementación y mantención de BRC Food, estuve 2 años. Actualmente pertenezco al equipo de Wenco empresa líder en Sudamérica en entregar soluciones de contenedores en industrias como la agroindustria, el retail, la minería, la acuicultura, el packaging industrial y packaging de consumo masivo, cumpliré 5 años en la industria del Packaging como líder equipo Calidad y certificando BRC.
¿Cual es su formación académica?
Ingeniero de Alimentos y Licenciado en Ciencias de los Alimentos de la Universidad Santiago de Chile.
¿Cuáles son sus ambiciones / objetivos profesionales?
Primero pertenecer por muchos años a este tremendo equipo de trabajo que es Wenco, segundo en base a los requerimientos del negocio, lograr certificar en BRC Packaging la mayor cantidad de los 26 sitios (Colombia, Perú y Chile) que actualmente el grupo tiene activos, y por último formar la Gerencia Corporativa de Calidad con una estructura Profesional en BRC Packaging.
BRC Global Standards Professional: Luis Sebastián Pino Pavez, Chile
Luis Sebastián Pino Pavez has just become the first BRC Global Standards Professional in Latin America. Based in Chile, Sebastián is a Corporate Quality Sub-Manager of Wenco. We caught up with him to learn more about his career motivations and what this qualification means to him.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE?
I am the Corporate Quality Sub-Manager of Wenco company and its subsidiaries.
WHY DID YOU JOIN THE BRC GLOBAL STANDARDS PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMME?
I am going to celebrate five years in the packaging industry, and I have attended several trainings with my team in BRC Global Standards and HACCP, mostly run by certification bodies. However, these have been very theoretical and not focused on our practical needs for packaging, so that is why I started looking for new training options focused on packaging. During this search I got in touch with ATP Federico Sanchez from Argentina, who offered me and my team to join BRC Global Standards Professional programme.
WHAT VALUE DO YOU PERSONALLY FEEL THE BRC GLOBAL STANDARDS PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION BRINGS TO YOU?
I feel loyal to BRC Global Standards as an "ambassador" in Latin America for being recognised as the first BRC Global Standards Professional, confirming what I have been doing for the last five years in the packaging industry, and enhances my admiration for what BRC Global Standards means and the product safety added value that it gives to the industry. In addition, this program made me a professional of excellence with a straight focus on risk analysis, to protect our brand Wenco and its subsidiaries.
HOW HAS/WILL THE RECOGNITION PROGRAMME IMPACTED YOUR WORK?
It gives me the skills required to push harder my company and the area I lead with regards building a product safety culture and to make BRC our "DNA", along with the reinforcement of the processes with both internal and pre-assessment audits among the different sites of Wenco and its subsidiaries.
WOULD YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE COMPONENT COURSES ANYWAY?
Yes. However, it was important for me to take all courses in a short time, it gave me a better understanding due this program is perfectly linked among the courses delivered.
HOW DID YOU GET TO YOUR CURRENT ROLE?
I started working in Coca Cola company, at the Quality Engineering area where I met several standards that were part of the integrated management system. I worked there for five years, then I continued at Viña Concha y Toro winery as Quality Team Leader, where I met BRC Global Standard’s Food Standard. There I was trained and participate in the implementation and certification of the Standard for two years. Currently I belong to the Wenco's team, the South America's leading company in delivering packaging solutions in many industries such as agricultural, retail, mining, aquaculture, industrial packaging and mass consumer packaging. I will meet five years in the Packaging industry as a team leader of Quality and certification of BRC Packaging.
WHAT IS YOUR EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND?
I am Food Engineer and Bachelor of Food Sciences from the Santiago University of Chile.
WHAT ARE YOUR CAREER AMBITIONS/AIMS?
First of all, I would like to continue working for many years to this great working team that is Wenco. Second, and based on our business' requirements, I will work hard to achieve the BRC Packaging certification as many as possible number of the 26 sites that Wenco owns in Chile, Peru and Colombia. Finally, I would like to lead the Corporate Quality Management area of the company with all my staff trained in BRC Global Standards Professional.
