The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced the launch of a new pilot accreditation program for certification bodies (CB) assessing compliance to the new BRC Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 4.

As a signatory to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement (MLA), ANSI is recognized by BRC Global Standards as an Accreditation Body that accredits CBs to BRC Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 4.

BRC Global Standards published the new BRC Global Standards for Consumer Products (Personal Care and Household and General Merchandising) on November 1, 2016.  The Certification Bodies undertaking audits against the Standard are assessed and approved both by BRC Global Standards and through Accreditation by national Accreditation Bodies such as ANSI. This provides assurance of their high operating standards and in turn the value of certificates issued to manufacturers.

The announcement by ANSI recognizes the value of the BRC Global Standard for Consumer Products for the industry and ultimately for the customers of certificated sites.

Interest in the new BRC Global Standard for Consumer Products has been high, and audits start this month on behalf of one of the world’s biggest retailers based in the US.
