Global Standards Technical Team

The Global Standards Technical Team are responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the Global Standards.  This includes:

• Chairing the Technical Advisory Committees for the Standards

• Co-ordinating the Standard writing working groups and technical inputs

• Producing interpretations and clarifications of the Standard

• Answering all enquiries regarding the Standards

• Attending Certification Body Co-operation Group meetings

• Liaising with Certification Bodies, retailers, trade associations and manufacturers using the Standards

• Liaising with other technical groups which may assist with the implementation of the Standards

• Attending and speaking at conferences and meetings to promote the Standards

• Checking compliance to the Standards to maintain the Standard's integrity

• Checking and registration of Certification Bodies and their auditors and maintenance of these records

• Pioneering the growth of the Standards in developing markets  

The Technical Team is comprised of 6 members:

Dr Geoff Spriegel - Director of Global Standards and Technical Services

Geoff is the head of the Technical Team and ensures that through the co-ordination of the team and their resources, the Standards are developed to meet the needs of the market, their integrity is maintained and their global development is facilitated.

David Brackston - Senior Technical Services Manager

David is responsible for all matters relating to the Food, Packaging and Packaging Materials and Storage & Distribution Standards. David also oversees the work of the Compliance Manager and Customer Service Co-ordinator.

John Kukoly - Senior Technical Marketing Consultant

John is responsible for all matters relating to the Food Standard in North America, developing strategy for the development of training programs, managing the North American Technical Advisory Committee and implementation of a marketing communication plan.

Linda is responsible for all matters relating to the Consumer Products Standard.

Karen Betts - Compliance Manager

Karen is responsible for all matters relating to compliance to the Global Standards. This includes liaising with, and monitoring of, BRC Registered Certification Bodies, surveillance of audit reports and auditor qualifications and managing referrals and complaints relating to audits.
