BRC Best Practice Guideline: Pest Control - Issue 2

The BRC has produced a series of Best Practice Guidelines aimed at manufacturing and storage businesses to provide practical advice on developing systems to fulfil obligations with regard to legal compliance, safety and quality criteria.

An effective pest control system is a pre-requisite to a site's operational system. This may be achieved within the company or by contracting a specialist.

Key features of the guideline include:

  • Identifying requirements for preventing pest access to site

  • Guidance for control and monitoring of pests

  • Identifying action required when an infestation occurs

  • Guidance on how companies and pest control contractors should work together
